Frequently Asked Questions (other questions? Email piscatawayconoy@gmail.com)
What time does the race start, and what time should I arrive?
The race itself starts promptly at 8:00 a.m. The registration booth will be open at 5:00 a.m., giving runners plenty of
time to arrive, register, and get warmed up before the run. We will begin staging runners according to pace between 7:30 a.m.
and 7:45 a.m. We recommend you arrive as early as possible so you'll have time to register and warm up without feeling rushed.
You do not want to run a 5K in April weather without ample time to warm and stretch!
What do I do when I get to the park?
Our volunteers will direct you to parking and to the registration booth. At the registration booth, you'll give our
volunteers your name so we can check you off our list. You will receive your bib and timing chip once your registration is
confirmed. After that, you are free to run the park grounds to warm up and stretch until staging begins around 7:30 a.m.
May I walk instead of running?
Absolutely! Even though we're distributing chips and timing the event, we like to consider this more of a fitness and
community event rather than a race. Lots of people will be walking rather than running, so you will be in good company.
What are the age and fitness requirements for the 5K?
You must be at least 14 years old to register for and run/walk the 5K. There will be a shorter distance "fun run" for children
under 14 that will start after the runners have cleared the starting area (around 8:05 a.m.). You do not have to register
for the fun run. As with all athletic pursuits, we recommend you consult a physician ahead of time to ensure that you are
fit to run or walk the 5K. By participating in the 5K, you acknowledge that the Piscataway Conoy Tribe and the Maryland Indian
Tourism Association do not assume responsibility for your health, safety, security or support.
I am not Piscataway. Can I run?
The Piscataway 5K is open to EVERYONE, and we enthusiastically encourage you to register whether you're Piscataway or
not. This event is for all to enjoy!
Where do I park?
Ample parking is available for free at Laurel Springs Regional Park, which is where the race will start and be staged. Our volunteers
will be on hand to direct overflow parking in the event that things get a little crowded.
What's the route like?
The running route is a simple one, covering 1.6 miles of Rosewick Road west of Laurel Springs Regional Park. The route is
fairly flat and gently winding; after starting, runners will be directed to turn at the 2.5KM mark and run back to the starting line.
